“Last Night of the Proms” Fundraiser

Lostwithiel Town Band

On 30th June at St Petroc’s Church in Bodmin, a unique ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert took place, commemorating the historic links between the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry and Lostwithiel Town Band which served as the official Band of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry Territorial Army in the 1950s and 1960s.

The concert featured many well-loved favourite tunes and raised over £1,800 for our museum. It was organised by volunteer John Phillips who worked tirelessly to put together a very special evening for us. The band was joined by a superb soloist, Karen Hurn, who also has a successful career in Barclays corporate banking.

Karen is a dedicated charity fundraiser and thanks to her, Barclays contributed £1,000 towards the concert’s fundraising efforts.  John is now planning another ’Last Night of the Proms’ to raise funds for us in September 2019.
