A Timely Discovery at Bodmin Keep!

Florence Nightingale Letter

Bodmin Keep unearths a letter from Florence Nightingale in it’s archive!

On International Nurses Day, we are happy to tell you all of a recent discovery in our archive! It is a handwritten letter from Florence Nightingale, the nurse and social reformer who transformed medical treatment in the field of battle during the Crimean War in the 1850s. She was well-known for her emphasis on hand-washing to prevent the transmission of infection at a time when this was not common practice.
