Bomber Jacket

With the use of aeroplanes in wars, special flying clothes were necessary. Pilots needed to move easily, even at high altitude in low temperatures. The US Airforce developed several types of flying jacket during World War 1 and 2.

One of the most famous is the Type A-2, made of practical leather and seen as a status symbol. The style appeared in 1980s films such as Indiana Jones and Top Gun, which made it fashionable. Even today, leather jackets have kept this ‘cool’ identity.
